  1. Extremely 'lightweight'. Too much if you ask me - no decoration, it sits on top of your nicely composited desktop like a piece of blue plastic in a museum. Not pretty. It gives an impression of speed - just the way that turning off your desktop effects, and menu delay down to 0ms makes you think your computer is fast. It's just basic - no faster than Firefox will run on a nice lightweight desktop, or opera for that matter. (Java tends to put on the pressure, not so much the browsers).

I love Opera, the way it handles, and firefox has the most power in terms of add-ons. If you want speed, just dump windows - I run FF and Opera on linux, and it's wicked fast (I just recoded DVD9 movie and wrote it to two 4.7GB DVD disks. Recoding took 20 minutes. In windows it used to take hours!)

  2. I love the new browser and I think it's going to kill IE. It's just a better browser all together - and super fast. My favorite things about it is that it runs Javascript code much faster and that makes Google docs so much better!

It's working great for me as we speak!

  3. Its very interesting that Google has decided to take on a project like this. They obviously have such an interest in how people access the web, it was only a matter of time before they took things into their own hands. It is going to be very interesting to see how this pans out.

  4. I love it, 9.5/10 at the moment. Rule One: It's fast.

Since it's from Google, I'm absolutely sure it's secure. The reason I docked it .5 points is because, well, it's a beta release. Giving 10/10 on a first beta? Come on.

I have 2 favorite features. I notice that, if a process is making, say, 100k usage, you can use the task manager (Page>Developer>Task Manager) and close that tab, decreasing your usage.

But one I truly and honestly love, you can create 'application shortcuts' (Page>Create Appl...) and they allow you to launch applications from your desktop. For example, say I use Gmail. I can create a shortcut to Gmail from my desktop, and double-click it to launch it. It works with multiple other apps, too.

Another thing I like in all browsers is simplicity. Like the Google homepage, which is simple, the UI isn't the prettiest thing on Earth, but it's simple and efficient. It takes some time to get to know your way around it, but hey, it took time to know your way around IE7, Safari 3.1, Firefox 3, and definitely Opera. What's different?

WebKit is a stable, fast rendering engine.

As it's the first day, everyone doesn't have an app for Chrome. Once it gets, say, 10% market share (Google could accomplish this by releasing certain 'must have' features for Chrome, and then maybe 3-6 months later for FF/IE users), I'm sure more people will write apps for Chrome. At the end, market share will be 1% Internet Explorer, 40% Firefox, 40% Chrome, 19% Safari - as it should be.

Overall, I suggest you download Chrome immediately. You will NOT regret it.

  5. This video (3 and 1/2 minutes long) shows "10 features of google chrome":

And I like it. It really isn't all that different to me, but it seems to run faster than IE or FF for me and it isn't too hard for me to get used to.
