Im a 3rd year college student auditioning for Oklahoma in the fall and having trouble picking a song. Im auditioning for Will Parker, have voice, dance, and acting training.

Looking for a more up tempo song for this character. I'm a tenor and have been looking at "When the children are asleep" from carousel, "You've got to be carefully taught" and "Younger than springtime" from south pacific.

Could use some ideas to help me out.

  1. "There Once was a Man" or "Once a Year Day" from Pajama Game

"Me and My Girl" from Me and My Girl

"Bless your Beautiful Hide" from 7 Brides for 7 Brothers

"Something's Comming" from West Side Story

"Sit Down Your Rocking the Boat" from Guys and Dolls

"Old Devil Moon" from Finian's Rainbow

"Goodbye Old Girl" from d**n Yankees

I think the songs you have chose are good as well and its great that your looking at songs by R&H or to find one in that genre instead if singing Wicked or Rent not like there is nothing wrong with that music just different styles and as a director myself I hate when people do that.

Work with a few of the songs have a friend or someone who will give you an honest opinion tell you which is your best song. Best of luckl to you!
