who will win? lets say Ancient Greek and Ancient China. Around 200 AD - 400 AD. It is a long distance war, where the battle is happening far away from both empire's mainland. So we will put the factors of resource, maneuvering abilities/speed, and numbers in men, into account. Lets say the Chinese are the invaders and the battle front will be around the Mediterranean Sea. So the area will not be too dry and where the sea is accessible. So who have higher chance of winning?

  1. Greece

  2. I'd pull for the Greeks...but the Chinese had the bigger army in that time period

  3. It's hard to compare the two during that era. Greece was just a province of the Roman, and later Eastern Roman, Empire between AD 200 and 400. The Jin Dynasty was in power in China and it was largely unified, but there were constant rebellions and they were way too busy at home to invade the Roman Empire.

Edit: As far as gunpowder goes, 200-400 is probably before they ever used it in warfare.

  4. Jacky Chan and Bruce Lee would win it for China.  How many Greek martial arts experts are there?  None.  I rest my case.

Dumb answer for a stupid question.

  5. I am going to go with the Greeks check my source why

  6. First of all, remember Alexander the Great. His army started enthusiastically, but by the time they reached India they were exhausted. Does anyone have any idea how far is China from the Mediterranean? So, even if the Chinese started with great numbers, many of them wouldn't make it there. And... bringing ships? All the way there? Not that possible.

The Greeks, though, would be relatively closer to their land, making it easier to restock on provisions, army, weapons, ships, etc. Plus, they would know the terrain better (and as we have seen they've used terrain to their advantage in MANY battles), as well as the waters of the sea. I think the outcome is clear by now.

  7. i would think china.

they have flat bottomed ships called junks. contrary to the name, their extraordinarily sturdy and stable on the high seas.

a typhoon would wipe out any ships of that age, chinese or not so that's irrelevant.

they have super up to date navigational charts, they have the compass, they have rockets, aka fireworks with explosives

the Chinese have a immense amount of manpower, now and before. they were issues of rebellions around that time so I don't think they'll invade Greece. But then again, the whole thing is theoretical.

sure the spartans and great, but since china is the invader, it will get to dictate the terms. They have definitely more options than the Spartans. Siege, trade routes, blackmail, spies, enlisting other nations enemy of the greek, etc etc.

  8. greek all the way..... homeland advantage plus the spartan fighting skills..... THIS IS SPARTA.... una faccia una razza.... one race one face in italian
