b. if there was a mirror that measured 40 inches on one side, what would the other measurement be if the price were still $85.

  1. Considering most BAs are worthless unless you are seeking a managerial position at Starbucks, don't just blow off your math courses.

    Hopefully this will help you:

    L&W are in inches

    Cost of Frame=Fc=$.25*perimeter of mirror=$.25*(2L+2W) = $.5(L+W)

    Cost of Mirror =Mc=$.25*Area of mirror=$.10(L*W)

    Price=P=Fc+Mc

    a) Area=20*30=600in^2    Perimeter=2*20+2*30=100in

    Mc=600in^2*$.10=$60

    Fc=100in*$.25=$25

    P=$60+$25=$85

    b) P=$85=Mc+Fc

    Mc=$.10(40*W)

    Fc=$.25(2*40+2*W)

    P=Mc+Fc=4w+$20+.5w=$85

    4.5W=$85-$20=$65

    W=$65/4.5=14.4444...

    c) P=$.10(L*W)+2(L+W)($.25)

    =$.10(L*W)+$.5(L+W)

    P=$.10LW+$.5(L+W)

    d) P=.10LW+.5(L+W)

    P=.10LW+.5L+.5W

    P-.5W=.10LW+.5L

    2P-W=.2LW+L

    2P-W=L(.2W+1)

    (2P-W)/(.2W+1)=L

  2. dude, f math I failed my last year of it in high school and still got into a good college.  You don't need it if you get a bachelor of arts =)

    which by the way is not useless considering i'm going into an english major and not math like the jerk who responded under me.  just because he's good at math doesn't mean he has to be a d**k.
