Alan Shearer refutes reports of Blackburn link
Former Blackburn player, Alan Shearer has told the media he will not be taking over as manager of Blackburn. Sam Allardyce was dismissed from the post last week by new club owners, the Indian group Venky’s. Since then, there has
been much speculation as to who would replace the popular Englishman at the helm. Many names have been thrown around in relation to the job, including the likes of Martin O'Neill, Stuart Pearce, Martin Jol and even Maradona. Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international Alan
Shearer was also mentioned as a possible replacement for Allardyce.
However, Alan Shearer has ruled himself out of the race. When asked about his chances of becoming the new Blackburn manager, the former England striker said: ‘Save your money.’ He was then asked if he was ruling himself out of
contention. He replied: ‘I am.’ Alan Shearer was a highly regarded player during his prime, but his managerial credentials are limited. His only previous managerial experience came with Newcastle where he was appointed on a temporary basis. The former England
striker spent just 8 games in charge of Newcastle when they faced relegation two years ago. He left the post when the club was relegated to the Championship.
Shearer is a popular figure at Ewood Park, having played for Blackburn from 1992 to 1996. During his time at the club, Shearer scored 131 goals in 171 appearances, eventually helping the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 win the Barclays Premier League title
in the 1994/95 season. He was one of the favourites to take the reins at Blackburn after Allardyce’s s departure, but with his recent comments, he has ruled out a return to his old club. Blackburn’s new owners have stated that they want more attractive football
from the team and that they are aiming for a finish in the top 6 of the Premier League in future seasons. Steve Kean is currently acting as caretaker manager for Blackburn. The club’s owners have stated that he will remain as manager at least until the end
of the season. However, they continue to look for a suitable replacement for Allardyce.
