  4. He conquered Ireland for the English...and killed King Charles.  Don't know whether those are good accomplishments, but they ARE accomplishments.

  5. you may as well ask the people of Iraq, "what has george bush accomplished". Cromwell murdered thousands of Irish people.

    As an Irishman I feel he contributed to the troubles of the seventies and eighties in england and Northern Ireland. But I see the amazing forgivness on all sides now there is peace in ireland. So, Cromwell acheived nothing.

  7. By removing the Irish to the west coast of Ireland to make room (plantation) for protestant Englishman.  "To h**l or Connaght."  Not a hero in the eyes of out Irish ancestors...

He used Fear and Power to have his will done, but that is nothing to remember him by, or indeed all who followed him over the Centuries along that Path. At this time when we Celebrate the Birth of the "Prince of Peace" Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, we should leave Cromwell, and his Ilk, in the dustbins of History.
