Acapulco vs Cancun?

Question

I am trying to pick between going to Acapulco versus Cancun in November of this year. Has anyone been to both and can provide a pro/con for either or? I noticed the weather in November is generally the same if not a little warmer in Acapulco (4 degrees warmer on avarage).

Added bonus if you have any insight into the Fiesta Americana resorts at both but in general looking for info about the cities in general and what to expect in each/why to go to one versus the other. Thanks!

I am Mexican, so trust me. Go to either Puerto Vallarta or Acapulco. If you want a vacation spot "Americanized" for tourists go to Cancun. If you want a Vacation with a "Mexico" feel, then go to Acapulco or Puerto Vallarta. The beaches are also a bit less crowded and the local fishermen sell you some greatly cooked fish. And the Coronas and Tecates are also iced better and colder for you.

Well I call cancun gringoville - enough said. Weather is perfect in November - could not have picked a better time. Both have thier flaws but for me , why travel to another country to be surronded by Americans. Its hard to really get a feel for the people and customs that way.

November here in Acapulco starts the tourist season and will mostly be Candians and a bit elderly as they come to escape the winters

Acapulco is the vacation spot for the Mexicans in December and spring for the simple reason it has prices for all budgets - Cancun is really priced for "wealthy" Americans. Their concept of Americans is wealth :)

My opnion is Acapulco for the simple reason of no Americans and price.

Fiesta Americana is one of the best Mexican Hotels. The state where I lived in Mexico is big in baseball and they have their season in the winter so many American players go there since the season here is in the spring-summer. Anyway, I knew many of them cuz I lived by the stadium and some used to stay in rented townhouses in my neighborhood and the most famous ones (ex: Sammy Sosa, Acevedo etc). basically the American ones were staying at the Fiesta Americana since it was the nicest hotel in town. As for Acapulco or Cancun, both beautiful but Cancun is a lot more tropical. You'll see a lot more American tourists and foreign tourists in Cancun. Acapulco could be cheaper. Both beautiful beaches but if you want to see more than a beach go to Cancun. Also if you want to party harder and find more people who speak your language.
