My Accord will turn over but not start. New rotor, distributor cap, wires, and plugs. New fuel pump and new main relay. And it STILL won't start, it turns over fine and I can hear an ignition every now and then but wont start. Help please.

  1. Have you checked the timing belt ?

  2. My '92 did that and it turned out to be some little ignition component. That was the only time that care ever left me stranded. I usually do my own wrenching, but that was one I couldn't figure out myself. It took the shop 3 hours with a multi-meter before they found the burned out piece. It ended up costing $340.00 but I doubt I would have figured it out myself, and it would have cost me a lot more to just throw random parts at it. I really wish I still had the reciept and the old part. I would tell you exactly what it was. All I know is that the garage has the same import manuals that my public library has, so I guess if I had to do it again, I might get it that way.

If I were you, I would find the factory diagnostic proceedures and see if you can sort it out.

Good luck. There isn't much that sucks more than a car that won't start.

  3. have you changed the fuel filter?
