4 Month Old Playtime or Learning Activities?

I have been a nanny for a long time and I have had experience with children of all ages, but I recently accepted a new job with a 4 month old, and I need some ideas or tips on how to entertain a baby of that age, as it has been awhile since I have cared for one.

  1. My 4.5 month old loves playing on the floor with toys - anything she can grab easily and put to her mouth.  She is also learning to roll over - putting toys to the side of her will encourage her to reach and learn to roll over.  She also needs supervised "tummy time" a couple of times a day for as long as she will stand.  We use a baby mirror in front of her so she can stare at herself.

Walks outside in a sling are great for them too, they are just starting to see better and love looking at nature.  I recommend a sling so they are higher up and have a better view, they like to snuggle too.  Another thing my daughter likes is just walking around the house and pointing things out to her "this is your crib, this is your dog, etc".  Helps them develop language skills.  The baby will probably be babbling at that age and you can have "conversations" back and forth with her.

Have fun and congrats on your new position!
