22nd FIBA Asia Championship Cup Roundup Day-2:
Al Ittihad and Al Rayyan win (Part-2)
Al Rayyan 90 – Al Jalaa 67
Chauncey Leslie erupted with a game-high 30 points to spearhead Qatar’s Al Rayyan for a comprehensive 90-67 victory over the Al Jalaa of Syria on the day two of the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship Cup. Al Rayyan absolutely dominated
the proceedings throughout the game and provided few options to the Al Jalaa to gain any sort of momentum.
Targuy Alban Ngombo was also instrumental at both ends of the court and racked up 17 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Yasseen Musa also landed 21 points for the Qatari side.
Sari Papazian was the top scorer for Al Jalaa with 20 points while Ahmad Hajishak ended the night with 11 points. Rest of Syria’s line-up however failed to put up a decent performance.
Samaki Walker opened the scoring of the game for Al Jalaa however Musa surged with a 2-point shot in the preliminary 2 minutes of the first quarter followed by Leslie’s free throw to snatch a 3-2 lead, from where the Al Rayyan
never trailed throughout the game and clinched a magnificent victory.
Al Ittihad 83 – Duhok 75

Vladislav Dragajlovic showcased a brilliant performance of 27 points on the day-2 of the 2011 FIBA Championship and powered Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia to a thrilling 83-75 win over Duhok of Iraq.
Dragajlovic also gathered 15 rebounds, highest in the game, to key the Saudi team in a hardly fought meeting. Adil Aljuhani also finished with 21 points for the Saudi’s. 
Chudnay Earl Gray was main contributor in Duhok’s line-up. Earl landed a team-high 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, all of them defensive. Chester Jarell Giles was quite impressive as well and landed a double-double with 16 points
and 14 boards. However, Gray and Giles’ were unable to match the brilliance of Dragajlovic down the stretch.
Both the teams headed out aggressively in the first two quarters as the game went for a tie 37-37 going into the halftime. Duhok procured 4 points advantage early in the third quarter, however Yahya Ibrahim and Al Adil responded
with two successive three’s and snatched the lead back for the Saudi’s. Al Ittihad carried the action convincingly and secured a 7 point lead, heading into the fourth quarter. Duhok strived hard to retaliate in the final period; however Al Ittihad never relinquished
the lead and squeaked out an 83-75 win.
