Question:

2005 Dodge Magnum blower motor connector?

Ok, I am not at all mechanically inclined. I have taken my Dodge Magnum to a dealer to get a recalled part replaced, and while it was there I asked if they'd check out why my air stopped working. The blower won't come on but the compressor does. I got a call a few minutes ago and they said that a connector on it was melted. Is this the same thing as a resistor? Just curious, so I'll know what to look up and buy somewhere else. My hubby can fix it, he just couldn't diagnose it, so we don't want to pay for parts and labor at the dealership. Also, are either one of these expensive because the estimate I got was $300 parts & labor. I'm wondering if he said the blower motor also needed replacing and I just didn't hear that part. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  1. If the dealer was saying it was the connector on the blower motor no it is not the same thing as the resistor. Generally speaking if the connector is available seperately from a complete wiring harness the connector should cost about $20-$30 be it the blower motor itsself or the resistor. As far as the blower motor needing to be replaced that is very possible, call the dealer back and ask them exactly what it was that needs to be replaced.

  2. the part he was talking about is the small wiring harness that connects to the heater motor blower motor resistor on that one,i have seen those melt down on those and other chrysler products, tell them to sell you the part and let your husband repair it,that's to much labor to pay out for that repair,he can repair it as long as its not the whole harness they are wanting to replace,he can also replace the blower motor on it,those aren't hard to replace on those vehicles,if he,ll take his time with it he can repair it as good as they can,as long as the have the part in stock just purchase it and he can do this one, good luck  with it.
