1995 6.5 L gmc turbo diesel problem

i have 1995 diesel 6.5 turbo i want to know if off the back of the altinator 10mm bolt for the charging wire to the battery,,if the wire itself has to have a fuse link or can i run just a direct wire with no fuse?

I've replaced mine with a cooler from e-bay with harness for about 90 bucks, The hardest part is getting to the PMD (pump mounted driver) its attached with torx screws. Dont try to remove them completly (they wont come out) loosen each one till the head pops out of the pmd and then slide it off, Should only take an hour, I remounted mine on the bottom of the rad using the facory air bag sensor holes (3/4 and one ton won't have a sensor anyway) Hope this helps
