Question:

10 acre land/home?

I am in the process of buying a house/land and I need some advice. I have always had something about having my house on a large piece of land more likely about 10Acres. My question is what are the disadvantages of owning such a large property?

I know one of them is the financial bit but lets ignore that.

Thanks

  2. My parents own a 3 acre property, and I find that the only disadvantage is the property tax..other than that, it's the BEST thing we've ever invested in. Subdividing could be an option in the future, but you should make sure that there are sewage systems and not septic systems before you do that.

  3. The only disadvantage is upkeep. Ten acres is a big parcel of land. Fencing is one thing that would be a necessity if you plan on having cattle to graze or goats to keep the brush down. You could alternate pastures for the animals and still have a nice size field for hay and corn.My hubby and I would like about that size, because we like horses and the country without neighbors immediately next door. You need to do what makes you happy regardless of the disadvantages.
