Visiting Canada and Re-entering United States?

I am a legal resident Alien and I want to visit the Niagara Falls and shop around in Canada. Do you know what I will need to enter Canada and Re-enter The United States?

you now need a legal passport to do so. thats it. if you bring kids you also need their birth certificates

You just need your green card and a photo I.D.like your drivers license to travel to and from Canada by LAND.  U.S. Green card holders do not need a visa to enter Canada.  See site below and scroll down to section on "Lawful Permanent Residents."  Passports for LAND travel toand fromCanadawill not be needed until June 2009. See 2nd site below.

well you might want to bring some id at the very least like drivers licence or something to identify yourself

Yeah, your green card and or/driver's license will be fine. The more stuff you have to identify you, the better.

I take the Lewiston/Queenston, Rainbow, and Peace Bridges often and even with my USA passport, I get a lot of s**t from the NY border patrol agents and I have been detained by the US border patrol on several occasions (probably because I have dark olive skin/hair/eyes) but they can't do anything if you have done nothing wrong. Going into Canada will not be a problem,coming back is different.  Make sure your vehicle is SPOTLESS (trunk too) and you are confident and divulge all information to the border agents. As long as you do that, there should be no problem
