the tournament’s final game against Trinidad &Tobago, scheduled on Sunday.
As for Thursday’s outing, Sagicor High Performance Centre’s Captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sharmarh-Shaqad-Joshua-Brooks-c89779, won the toss and opted to bat first at the Providence venue – hoping to make an early use of the Guyana pitch.
Put into field first, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andre-Dwayne-Russell-c44235, both of whom stepped in against
Sagicor’s opening batsmen, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajindra-Chandrika-c83596.
Unfortunately for the batting side, Sagicor lost two successive wickets in the 3rd over of the innings, owned by Santokie; leaving Corbin and two down batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Devon-Cuthbert-Thomas-c53930 to take charge of the side’s session.
With just a few more overs into the game, Corbin too made his departure for the pavilion, with Santokie earning his third for the day.
Hope came for the batting side after Skipper Brooks came out to accompany Thomas, managing to finally stall the side’s innings till the 22nd over, soon after which the duo was parted, having added a sluggish 49 runs contribution to the side’s
total.
Sagicor, once again came under fire, after the side lost another quick lot of 3 wickets, followed by 2 in the closing overs of the inning, crawling on to scoring a disappointing total of 176 runs.
As for Jamaica’s batting response, the team suffered an early blow after Skipper Gayle made a stunning departure, scoring a minor sum of 6 runs off 12 deliveries, leaving Kennar Lewis and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Xavier-Melbourne-Marshall-c98155 to take charge of the chase.
Although the pair managed to stall the innings for some good overs but the partnership was finally brought to an end in the 15.1 over, when Jamaica had scored 44 runs for a loss of 2 wickets.
With the team’s top-order suffering an early crumble, the task was then taken over by the middle-order, which despite suffering a consistent loss on the line-up, trailed on towards the final overs of the match, which see-sawed its way right till the eventual
deliveries.
Jamaica was finally triumphant, with a single wicket remaining on the line-up as well as a last ball to the match.
The team will now be facing Trinidad &Tobago on Saturday, when the two sides will lock horns for the Regional Super50 tournament’s final game, scheduled to be staged at the Providence venue.
