Ok this post is actually for my sister....she is currently 37+ weeks pregnant. She is due Sept 13th but is schedualed for a c-section on Sept 10th. Well for a couple weeks the drs have been telling her she might not make it to the 10th because her baby is VERY low and getting lower! At her last appt this past wednesday the dr even semi-joked by saying if she all of a sudden dialated to 10 the baby would just fall out! Well I dont think she is dialated much if at all and she has had a few contractions but nothing regular. Well tonight she said she is REALLY uncomfortable....walking is REALLY painful because of how low her baby is! Im worried about her...is she going to be in pain for the next 3 weeks or does this mean labor is coming soon??

I have had a baby before but with my son my water broke at home. I never went through a period of being really uncomfortable like that. I am taking her other 2 children when she and her hubby go in to have the baby because we live close and I dont know if I should be prepared for something soon or if this is just another part of pregnancy??

**Also just to add the drs are not trying to do anything to stop labor....her baby is very healthy and the drs dont seem the least bit concerned with her delivering early. It wouldnt be a bad thing to have the baby early

  1. Sounds like the baby is really far down in the birth canal, its getting ready for delivery. She could go early those are good signs of labor getting ready to start.

  2. The pain could be caused by the stressed tendons in her belly.  I find it is usually worse when I need to pee.  Unfortunately, it does not necessarily mean labor is coming.  If this is her first, she might not know the difference in pain/cramping and contractions though.  Just keep an eye on her.  My water never broke with my first two.  Haven't gotten that far with the third.  We'll see.  I remember when contractions started with my second I just thought the baby was turning and stepping on stuff in there.  It took about an hour before I realized it was happening every 15 minutes...:)

Lucky you that you didn't experience the "uncomfortableness".  But it is pretty normal.  Don't worry.

Good luck.  I'm sure she will be fine.

  3. i was in terrible pain, i could not walk or do ANYTHING in my last month of pregnancy. if i had to get up, i would waddle, i couldn't even really, bend down, i would get a sharp pain in my abdomadle area. but she could be getting ready for labor, the baby is very far down in the birth canal. i was dialated to 2 or 3 cm and i had to wear a dress b/c it was so uncomfterbal with jeans ect. but, when my husband and i were having s*x when i was in that last month, it was a miracle. you should have her try that. but the baby is VERY VERY far down in the birth canal. good luck.

  4. I was in terrible pain during the last month of pregnancy with my son. He was also big and very low. Walking was quite painful. For me it did not signify labor. I wound up being induced a few days before my due date because it just did not look like I was going to go on my own.

  5. My due date is Sept. 8th, and I was told my baby keeps dropping lower and lower as well. My midwife said I can still expect to be pregnant another 2 weeks though. If mom and baby are healthy, why is she scheduled for a c-section?

  6. I am due the very same day and I feel just like that. Its normal. I am dilated 2 cm and 70% effaced and I could go tomorrow or it could be a few weeks. You never know. Be prepared but this isn't necessarily a for sure sign of labor. I've been feeling like this for 3 weeks now. Good luck! Sounds like she has a great sis!

  7. My first question is, why if your sister is supposed to be having a scheduled Cesarean is the Doctor joking about not making it that far?

I have found that in the last few weeks of pregnancy when the baby is sitting lower and lower and bumping on the cervix it is absolutely uncomfortable and painful. It is very hard to tell if this is impending labour or if it is just another painful pregnancy symptom to prepare for the big day. If your sisters waters break, she starts having regular painful contractions, then she is quite possibly in labour and they wont do a thing to stop it now. You just need to be prepared to be called day or night to look after her children, labour is just another unexpected thing.
