Denver Broncos WR Andre Caldwell says QB Peyton Manning completely in-charge of practice sessions - NFL News
Quarterback, Peyton Manning is one of the best players to ever grace the football field and it is no surprise that after arriving at the Denver Broncos as a free agent the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) has become an instant hit with his new teammates.
Manning is currently working out with the offensive line during the voluntary workout sessions and is calling the plays as the team prepares for the start of the new 2012-13 season.
Wide receiver, Andre Caldwell speaking to ESPN said that Manning is leading everything and is calling the shots during practice.
“He’s literally leading everything. He’s setting us up, putting us in the right positions,"
Adding further Caldwell said.
"He’s not running the drills -- definitely he and (Eric) Decker go hand-in-hand with that -- but he’s pretty much the leader in everything else.”
This does not come as much of a surprise as Manning did much of the same during his 13 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
The quarterback is now trying to get his team to learn a new “hurry-up” offence and is practicing hard with the receivers, running backs and tight ends.
Caldwell who joined the Broncos as a free agent in the current offseason can feel the difference playing under Manning.
The receiver from Cincinnati Bengals spent last year playing with rookie quarterback, Andy Dalton and said that his job is much easier now with Manning throwing to him.
“It’s a big difference. The quarterback had to get adjusted to us (last year), but instead, Peyton is leading us. He’s showing us all the drills we need to do. He’s ahead of everybody, and he’s just our leader. Being with a rookie last year, our leader was
on the O-line. This year it’s the quarterback. He’s leading everything that he does.”
The quarterback’s arrival at the Broncos has greatly lifted spirits at the franchise and if Manning remains injury free, the Broncos have a great shot of making it to the playoffs and even going all the way to the Super Bowl.
In 2012-13 the legendary quarterback will once again take to the field and excitement is rising in the Mile High City as the start of the season approaches closer with each passing day.
