Carl Mickelson captures Men’s 200m breaststroke gold: Day one – 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
Carl Mickelson of University of Arizona captured gold medal of the Men’s 200m breaststroke on primary day of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Friday, June 8.
The 21-year-old Mickelson showered his expertise in the four-lap breaststroke discipline and proved his mettle for the top spot on the podium. With his relentless efforts in the 200m event, he outsmarted his opponents and secured gold medal of the discipline.
He experienced strong resistance from Clark Burckle of Tucson Ford Deal but managed to outperform him over the finishing for gold medal.
Mickelson remained just a touch away from his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 14.07 seconds for gold medal of the event.
His effort remained 0.04 seconds faster from his closest swimmer, Burckle, who captured second position of the discipline with the timing of 2 minutes and 14.11 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was trailed by Kevin Cordes of University of Arizona, who stayed 0.32 seconds apart and tapped the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 14.43 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Brandon Fischer of Wyoming Aquatics, who stayed almost 2.50 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 16.90 seconds.
The 23-year-old Fischer was chased by Young Tae Seo of Swim Pasadena-CA, who was three seconds apart and secured fifth position of the event by producing a time of 2 minutes and 19.90 seconds.
Seo was chased by Brendan McHugh of Grtr Phila Aquatics, who stayed 0.12 seconds apart and proved his eligibility for sixth position of the discipline by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 20.02 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was obtained by Brennen Berger of Una CSC-IN, who stayed two body lengths apart and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.08 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was secured by Gage Crosby, who posted a time of 2 minutes and 22.75 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship will end on June 10 after the completion of all listed events.
