Anzhi Makhachkala attacking midfielder, Oleg Shatov, has heaped praise on Guus Hiddink, insisting that the former Real Madrid manager inspired his side to win the first-leg UEFA Europa League qualifier 2-0 against Dutch side,
on Thursday.
Shatov opened the scoring for home team in the 63rd minute while doubled their advantage late in the game. The Dagestani club will now play the return leg next Thursday.
The 22-year-old Russian midfielder is of the belief that Hiddink's inspirational speech during the half time helped the Makhachkala-based club in defeating the Vitas in the third match of qualifying round in Europe.

“In the first half, the game evolved very difficult. The opponent is completely superior to us in controlling the ball and creating chances to score points. Well, that prompted us to praise the coach, who rebuilt our game after
making the right conclusions.”
“Hiddink shouted at us, and we managed to score two goals. I think the fans liked the second half of the match. He asked us to play as men. Gus said that we are playing like a 16-year-olds. So we went back on the field with the
right attitude. As a result, we won,” The former FC Ural Sverdlovsk Oblast player was quoted as saying.
Shatov remained adamant that they have a good bench, saying that they have the strength to play twice a week. He went on to express his delight after playing the European encounter, revealing he got a whole new experience playing
