Ok keep in mind that this is Algebra II.

What does evaluate mean? The problem is (5/8)(3x-6)-(6-4x) and then she says to evaluate it.? What am I supposed to do?

  1. simplify it, and try to find out what x is.


  2. do the order of operations

    (5/8)(3x-6)-(6-4x)

    distributive property

    15/8x-30/8-6+4x

    combine like terms

    47/8x-78/8

    and reduce if possible

    47/8x-39/4

  4. Look at it and determine that yes, it is a math problem. Now that it is evaluated.

    Solve as far as you can.

  5. Simplify it.

    You cannot solve it because there is no equal sign.  Just combine the like terms.
