Is getting your tooth/teeth shaved hurt?

I have braces but when they come off I think I have to get them shaved because my two front tooth arent even. and others arent ethier does it hurt? and do they numb you for it? :S

the only reason my ortho is thinking of this because I also have a over bite so it hurts so the longer tooth really hurts.

A friend of mine had her teeth shaved and she only felt a fast vibration on her tooth, she didnot feel any annoying pain. She told me, that a point came when she for a moment felt it to be painful, but the tooth shave was over by that time.
