Many fancied teams lost there matches due to weather gods by applying theDuckworth Louie l;aw.I would like to know what it is all about.I would also like to know whether any other reasonable method can be followed for declaring the winners in a more reasonable manner.

  1. In the sport of cricket, the Duckworth-Lewis method (D/L method) is a mathematical way to calculate the target score for the team batting second in a one-day cricket or Twenty-20 cricket match interrupted by weather or other circumstance. It is generally accepted to be a fair and accurate method of setting a target score, but as it attempts to predict what would have happened had the game come to its natural conclusion, it generates some controversy.

For more details about D/L Method, please check the following link:

I strongly feel that deciding the match by the present D/L Method is not at all fair and that in a truncated match, the target score should be calculated by some simple method

    For example:

If the team batting first has scored 250 runs in 50 overs, which works out to be 5 runs per over and if the number of overs for the team batting second is reduced, the target score should be set as the number of overs to be played multiplied by 5, i.e.if the overs of team batting second is reduced to 30 overs, their target should be 30 x 5 = 150 runs.
