Help I am looking for housing or low income apt in California?

I'm looking for housing or low income apt ... in Stanislaus county. Can someone please give me some information ? I registered with Section 8 last year but I am still wait listed. Are there any programs for housing besides Section 8 ?

My current landlord wants me out because we fell behind in the rent due to unemployment. He refuses to accept section 8 because he doesn't want to do the repairs necessary to bring the apt up to code. We are working now but still the pressure is there to move.

Any help and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't want to be homeless with a 2 year old.

Get out of CA.  Head out to witchita,KS and get cheap rent for 250 per month.   Look at this place i saw on Craigs list.
