I just got a test result and it said it was non-reactive

It has been about 2 months since I last did anything

Does this mean I haver to get another one at the end of 3 months to be sure about the whole window period time or am I good?

  1. I think you asked the same question in another forum but not sure. Anyway, 2 months negative result is very encouraging as almost all the people who are infected will test positive by this time. It is a very good indication that you are not infected. But based on the guidelines, this has to be confirmed by a 3 months conclusive test.

I would not be worrie at all. It is extremely unlikely that a negative 2 months result will be changed to positive. Move on with your life and take another test at 3 months and expect a negative result.

Good luck! Always use protection when you do not know the status of your partner.

  2. More than likely you are negative, BUT it can take up 6 months to show up.  Just to ease your mind, you should have another one done at the 6 month mark.

  3. honestly...you can get as many hiv tests as your little heart desires. there isn't a golden rule of when hiv positive test results show up. so to make yourself feel comfy...go ahead and get tested every few months. there's no harm. i normally do at least two tests a year to make sure i have one every 6 months. just realize that you may pay for it lol, unless you are getting free tests.

  4. The time is every six months and every year after. HIV has been reported not showing up for as much as six years. It all depends on the rate it reproduces in your body. But usually after a year you are in the clear.

  5. With HIV testing you are still in the window period. HIV usually shows up 90% of the time after 30 days, 94-96% after 60 days (this is where you are at) and 99.6% after 90 days (3 months).

If you need peace of mind retest at 90 days, if not you are 96% sure you are negative.
