  1. Fundamentally the same thing, because their core doctrinal teachings are the same - the only difference is when leaders of the splinter groups add or remove some of the teachings they have a problem with, eg either may not be suiting them or might be seen as going against Biblical teachings, contest for power, etc. So, one group may be the side kick of another, etc.

    In fact, this how so many of the existing denominations came about - their founders are people, not Jesus Christ.
