Can you consolidate loans that have been consolidated?

  1. Nope. Student loan consolidation is a 1 time thing.


  2. Only if you have loans that were not included in your original consolidation.  Example- Loans A & B were consolidated for loan C.  But you still had loan D out there.  You can now consolidate loan C and loan D into loan E.  Without loan D, you would not be able to re-consolidate.

  3. Federal student loans cannot be reconsolidated unless you have a new loan to add into the already consolidated ones.

    Private student loans can be reconsolidated.
